Got a moment to pause and reflect. The skies over San Francisco cleared up as if to pay respects, welcoming the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein back to her hometown on Saturday evening. The Senator passed away at age 90 in her D.C. home but chose to return to her roots rather than lie in state at the capital.
A military flight landed at SFO at 5:58 p.m., and you bet there was a crowd to meet her. Among them were her granddaughter Eileen Mariano and Mayor London Breed. First to disembark was Feinstein’s daughter Katherine, followed by Pelosi and Feinstein’s Chief of Staff James Sauls.
Colleagues from both parties have been vocal in their praise for Feinstein, recognizing her as a power player who fought for both California and San Francisco. She also broke some glass ceilings for women in elected office. And get this: Fleet Week Air Show 2023 will be dedicated to her memory. Official funeral plans are still under wraps but are sure to be announced soon.
